Milam Glacier is located at an altitude of 4267 m and has an area of approximately 37 square km. This enchanting valley, enveloped by as many as 52 high peaks, is a trekker’s paradise. Milam glacier is also the source of the Goriganga River.

The fabled Goriganga River originates from the southern part of this glacier and this glacier offers a panoramic view of the stunning natural spectacles around. It is a famous trekking route in the Himalayas, which attracts scores of adventure sport enthusiasts every season. This glacier is fed by the Nanda Devi on the west, and the Panchchuli and Kalabandar glaciers from the east. Milam Glacier is the largest of its kind in the Kumaon belt of the Himalayas. Milam Village, which falls on the ancient trade route to Tibet, is rich in folk arts and handicrafts.

Milam glacier is in Pithoragarh District of Uttaranchal, around 15 km northeast of Nanda Devi.
How to Reach Milam Glacier
It is normally approached from the Munsiari road head (2133 m), which has a direct bus service from Delhi. From Almora the easiest option is by direct bus or a jeep ride from Gangolihat.
Best Time to Visit
The ideal time to visit would be from March to May and August to November.
Clothing to Wear
You are required to pack very heavy woolen clothes to withstand extremely cold climate.
