Marina beach is a beautiful and a sandy beach in the city of Chennai. It houses beautiful gardens and statues along the sea line. This is regarded to be the second largest beach in the world and stretches over 12 kilometers.
Marina beach is a popular tourist destination and possesses a wonderful face lift provided to it by Governor Mount Stuart Elphinstone Grant Duff in the early 1880's. After the moon rises, the beach is flooded with numerous floodlights which make it look like an attractive place even in the darkness of the nights.
People visiting here enjoy the south Indian food and culture along this welcome coastline, which makes the tourist feel at home. You will find numerous hawkers strolling around selling shells, kites, glass baubles and frit juices. The place also hosts important functions of the state and can accommodate several hundred people.
