Vagator beach is located 24 kilometres from the capital city Panaji, near the fishing village of Chapora. Vagator beach is said to be one of the most romantic beach in the world. The picturesque beach starts from a red laterite cliff majestically looking down on a vast expanse of powdery white sand, pockmarked with black lava rocks.

Even as one side is lined by a landscape of lush greenery, the other side complements the scene with swaying palm trees lining its edges. The idyllic beauty of the Vagator is cut by the old but imposing Portuguese Fort that served to block invaders from the sea during the early centuries.  

Vagator beach is divided to 3 parts: the northern part which is the seaside headland, known as the North Vagator beach, the southern part, known as the Mini-Vagator beach and the central strip of beach cut off from the southern and northern portions, known as the Middle Vagator beach or the Tel Aviv beach. Next to Vagator beach is the fishing village of Chapora. The village of Chapora serves as a mini shopping paradise for beach-goers and tourists for they can buy food and drinks and other bric-a-brac while camping on the beach grounds.

Attractions of Vagator Beach
There are several natural springs in Vagator Beach. One such spring is located in the Northern Vagator Beach while another is in the southern Vagator. Aside from these natural springs, the other attractions here would be water-sports like snorkeling, water skiing, dolphin watching and paragliding.

Accommodations at Vagator Beach
There are a number of hotels and resorts in Vagator beach that cater to the accommodation needs of foreign tourist and visitors. However, if you are traveling on a budget, there are lodging houses in the vicinity of the beach that are available at reasonable rates and are comfortable and clean.

Vagator beach is located in Chapora village, 24 kilometres from the capital city of Panaji in the state of Goa.

Best Time to Visit Vagator Beach and Clothing to Wear 
The best time to visit Vagator beach is during the months of November to March.  
Clothing to wear includes walking shorts, bathing suits, bikinis and other beach wear. It is recommended that one carries sunscreen when going to the beach to protect skin from the harsh rays of the sun.

How to reach Vagator Beach
By air, it is convenient to land at Dabolim airport, 29 kilometres from Panaji. One can then take a bus, taxi or jeep to Panaji which is only 24 kilometres from Vagator beach and then to the beach. If one wishes to travel by road, there are regular buses that ply between Mapusa and Calangute, which pass through Vagator beach.

Other Attractions near Vagator Beach

  • Chapora Fort: Chapora fort near Vagator beach is an elevated fort that allows one a sweeping view of the beach.
  • Chapora village: Near Vagator beach, this village has a colorful way of celebrating the return of their fishermen from their fishing expedition.
