Bhajan Print E-mail

Bhajan is the medium of expressing our love and faith to God. It is a type of song which is based on particular raag and beat (taal).

Bhajan can be sung in several styles:

  • Classically as chota khayal and bada khayal, with tans, alaaps, and dhrupad
  • Semi classically or lightly
  • On the music of filmy songs.

In India, the artists mostly take lyrics from the books written by saints of medieval age like Kabirdas, Tulsidas, Rahim, Meerabai, etc., and compose music of their own style. Some artists take music of filmy songs and launch a Bhajan album, which creates great market at the time of festivals like Ganesh Puja, Navratre, etc.
