History of Lalit Kala Academi
The Lalit Kala Academy was inaugurated by the first Prime Minister of India, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, who dreamt of making India the center where the art is seen flowering and blooming for many years, as it has been for ages now. The academy was incepted to focus on the development of visual arts like paintings, photography etc. and to play a watchdog role so that the people never lose their aesthetic sense which they carry in their blood and veins.
