Bundi is believed to be inhabited by local tribes of Parihar Meenas and derives its name from then ruling Meena king named Bunda Meena. The city was formerly called as “Bunda-Ka-Nal", where Nal means ‘narrow ways’. Bundi has beautiful ornate forts and step well reservoirs (baoris).
Bundi is also referred to as ‘Chota Kashi’ because of the temple shrouded over the whole land. The city is full of temples, mosques, havelis, palaces, murals, high stone idols and intricately carved architecture.

- The Taragarh Fort, or 'Star Fort' and Bundi palace are most prominent tourist spots in city.
- Jait Sagar Lake, Nawal Sagar Lake and Raniji ki Baori are amongst most visited lakes in city.
- Chaurasi Khambon ki Chhatri and Dabhai Kund are other tourist places worth visiting.
Location
Bundi is located in the Hadoti region of the Rajasthan and is in northwest India. The town of Bundi is 36 km from Kota and 206 km from Jaipur. The city is surrounded by the hills of the Aravalli range on its three sides and is situated near a narrow gorge.
