Hussain Sagar Lake is largest artificial lake in Asia. The exceptionality of lake lies in the fact that it joins two cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The lake provides a wonderful time to holiday makers and water lovers. The lake is not only an important picnic spot of the state of Andhra Pradesh. The lake is surrounded by four main covers of greenery such as Sanjevnath Park, Indira Park, Lumbini Park, green belt between Necklace Road and Rai Bhawan Road. The radiant and serene blue water of the lake attracts the visitors throughout the year.

Hussain Sagar Lake was constructed by Ibrahim Qutub Shah in the year 1562. This lake is located on the Stream of Musi River. The place where Hussain Sagar Lake is situated is referred to as ‘Tank Bund’. The lovely environment of lake enhances its appeal for the tourists. The “Tank Bund” is decorated on one side with 33 statues of great achievers of Andhra Pradesh.

The “Tank Bund” has become a favorite place for those having affinity towards morning and evening walks. During evening the surroundings of Hussain Sagar Lake are crowded with young couples and families. During summer seasons visitors can taste the delight of sugarcane juice and ice-cream.

Major Attractions of Hussain Sagar Lake:

  • Buddha Statue: The main attraction at Hussain Sagar Lake is gigantic Buddha Statue that is stood regally in the midst of calm lake. The weight of statue is 350 tones and its height is 16 m. This statue is an enormous sculpture made up of white granite.
  • Water Sports: Boating and Water Sports are the customary characteristics at Hussain Sagar. Every Year, the Tourism Department arranges for water sports competition for adventure lovers. The major sports facilitated are cruising in motor boats, para sailing, water skiing etc.

Also, the Cultural Department organizes cultural programs at Hussain Sager Lake on every Sunday
