History of Vythiri
The town of Vythiri has been closely associated with historical events and its history roots back to 18th century, when it was ruled by the Veda kings. Later, it was occupied by the Kottayam family. Since then, the place was ruled by the Hyder Ali, but after Tipu Sultan’s defeat, it was taken over by the British, and the region became an important tea and cash crop cultivation area.

- Thirunelli Temple: Thirunelli is a beautiful spot and a houses the popular Thirunelli temple in its forest area. This temple is also referred to as 'Thekkan Kasi'.
- Chembra Peak: This 6890 feet peak is the tallest peak of the whole area and is great for trekking.
