Pirmed is a small and lovely hill station which is situated on the way to the Periyar wildlife. It is also known as “Peermade”. This is a scenic and beautiful hill station located in the Idukki district in Kerala. It is said to be the resort of the former Travancore kings and Rajas. This place was named Peermade by the Sufi Saints and by the rulers of Peer Mohammed. Thus, Peermade means hills of the peer. Pirmed is said to be located amidst rubber, tea, coffee, pepper and cardamom plantations. It is surrounded with beautiful waterfalls and open grass lands. After the period of Travancore kings, their residence was renewed and rebuilt into a guest house by the Department of Tourism.
