History of Ranikhet
With reference to a famous belief by the devotees, Ranikhet is the city had locked the heart of the queen of Raja Sudhardev, Rani Padmini, This scenic city was chosen by her to be her quarters for living and from that day on then, it is known as ‘Ranikhet’, meaning Queens Meadow. The area surrounding Ranikhet was ruled by neighboring Kumaoni monarchs and then was changed to being ruled by the British. At that time, the British had turned Ranikhet into a hill station as their troops had established a military camp in 1869 here. Nonetheless, Ranikhet is still yet a military camp town and is also the Kumaon Regimental Center.

  • Majkhali: 26,000 above sea level, it offers a breathtaking view of the Himalayas
  • Chaukhutia: Heart of ancient strongholds and ruins of Katyuri empire
  • Jhoola Devi Temple: Temple dedicated to the Goddess Rama
  • Chaubatia: One of the most popular tourist attractions in this mesmerizing city, Chaubatia is the home to many flowers and fruits. It is also renowned for its charming views of Nandaghunti, Himalayas, Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Nilkanth peaks.
  • Uppat: A 9 hole golf course allowing everyone to enjoy that slight touch of golf
