History of Chithirapuram
Chithirapuram, the name is derived from the name of Sri Chithirathirunal, the ruler of Travancore State. It is believed that the ruler visited this hill station in the third decade of 20th century. Thus, the place got its name as the place for Chithira, and thus we know this place as Chithirapuram.

- Pallyvasal Hydel Power Project: Chithirapuram is famous for the Pallyvasal Hydel Power Project, which is an important project for the place.

Chithirapuram is at the distance of 10 km from Munnar, the beautiful town of Idukki district of Kerala. This hill station is located on the top of Sahayadris.
How to reach Chithirapuram
In order to visit this hill station, one has to visit Munnar, which is at the distance of only 12 km from the Cochin International Airport.
