Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary is a wonderful forest area teeming with wildlife and plant species. It is an ideal destination for tourists who love to be amidst nature and enjoy the scenic pristine beauty of animals and birds in their natural habitat. Situated in the Adilabad District in Andhra Pradesh State, this picturesque sanctuary is approximately 250 km from Hyderabad city. The Sanctuary was built in the year 1964 to safeguard the various endangered species of flora and fauna.
Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary is essentially a teak forest with lots of feral animals, birds and plant life. This sanctuary covers almost 900 sq km with two twin watch towers to its credit. Tourists throng the towers to watch the spectacular sunrise and sunset. The climate in the region is hot, except during the monsoon season that lasts for 4 to 5 months from June to late September. Animals such as panthers, tigers, sambhar, cheetal, sloth bear and Indian bison are habitual dwellers of this wonderland.

The main attraction of this Zoo is naturally the wildlife that includes nocturnal carnivorous animals as well as herbivorous animals. Apart from these animals you can also find large number of rare bird species, reptiles and plenty of teak, bamboo, shrubs and herbs. Dangerous animals like lions, tigers, jaguars, black bear, wolves, wild dogs, jackals and hyenas roam about in the wilderness of the zoo enclosures. Many tourists are enthusiastic about the mini train rides and mounting tame elephants for a ride around the zoo area. Birds such as peacocks, eagles, kites, vultures, mynas, partridges, tree-pies and kingfishers are also housed within the sanctuary premises.

- By Train: Railway travelers to Kawal can get down at Mancherial railway station that is at a distance of 50 km.

- By Air: You can reach the Kawal wildlife sanctuary through regular flights that land in Hyderabad city, approximately 260 km from the park.
