Bageshwar is an important pilgrim which is said to be bestowed upon by God. There are many historical places along with the tourist centres for the visitors in and around Bageshwar, located in the district of Uttaranchal. Bageshwar is located on the confluence of the rivers Saryu and Gomti. This beautiful town has lots of delights and pleasures for the adventure lovers. This district is said to be famous because of its ancient Bagnath temple and for the yearly Uttaraini fair held over there in the month of January.

The ancient temple in Bageshwar called Bagnath is a famous place built by the Pandavas in their period. The town Bageshwar gets its name from this temple of Lord Shiva. There are other temples since 10th century amongst which the prime ones are Bhairav temple, Dattatrey temple, Ganga Mai temple, Hanuman temple, Vaneswar temple etc.

There are many temples other than Bagnath temple, like Chandika temple which is having beautiful shrine of Goddess Chandika. Goddess Chandika is known to attract the devotees at the time of Navratras.

There is a temple called Shri Haru temple in Bageshwar. It is believed that the wishes of the devotees visiting this temple are always fulfilled. Large fair is organized at Bageshwar during the festival of Vijaya Dashmi.

Gauri Udiyar is another temple having a large cave enshrining idols of Lord Shiva. There are many other temples for the people and for the devotees to visit. Some of them are the temples of Nileshwar, Agnikund, Ram Ghat, Kukuda Mai, Trijugi Narayan, Shitla Devi temple, Nileshwar Dham, Hanuman temple, Swarg Ashram, Loknath Ashram, temple of Ramji and several other pilgrim places.

Bageshwar is also good for trekking. Trekking is the best way to know the land. Here, trekking can be carried out throughout the year. The hills of Kumaun are good for trekking. This place is set apart with snowbound peaks, crystal glaciers, jagged rocks, rolling meadows, jagged rock faces, scenic valleys, meandering rivers, cascading waterfalls and the dense forest.

Because of being surrounded by mountains and rivers, Bageshwar can be visited throughout the year. In summers, cotton wears and light woolen clothes are used. In the winter season, heavy woolen clothes are used.

By air:  Nearest airport is Pantnagar located at a distance of 206 km.
By rail: Kathgodam located at a distance of 180 km is the nearest railhead. Apart from this, Bageshwar is well connected by rail with Lucknow, Delhi and Howrah.
By road: Road distance from Delhi to Bageshwar is of 442 km. It is also connected with major cities by the road.

Other Attractions near Bageshwar
Baijnath located at a distance of 26 km from Bageshwar is the main tourist attraction. It houses the famous temple of Lord Shiva. The temple allows for the worship of the idol Goddess Parvati. The other place worth visiting is Kanda. It is the best place for the nature lovers, and nearby this place is the ancient temple of Bhadrakali. The other place is Vijaypur, which offers sight of panoramic views of the snow-clad Himalayan peaks.
