Bhairon Ghati is located at Uttarkashi near the confluence of the river Jat Ganga and Bhagirathi rivers. Bhairon Ghati is a place where one can stay and enjoy the mountains and the landscape. The temple of Bhairon Devta has been defining the idea of pilgrimage and is in existence since decades. The Bhairon temple is covered by thick forests which are really worth visiting. This place is also covered by the lofty peaks, deep ravine of Jahnavi and Bhagirathi rivers, with a bridge at a substantial altitude from river level, flowing below, and the towering deodar trees. All this makes this place truly blessed with nature’s love and God’s gift.

It is said that Bhairon Ghati is the place where Goddess Vaishno Devi cut off the head of Bhairon Nath, which flung up the mountain by the force of the blow. This temple is situated at the same place where the head was knocked down. It is situated at a distance of 2.5 km from the holy place of Vaishno Devi temple. When Bhairon Nath asked for forgiveness from the Goddess, he was liberated him from the cycle of life and death. Thus, this place was given the name of Bhairon Ghati and it is said that the yatra of the Goddess Vaishno Devi will be completed only when the devotees go for the darshan of Bhairon Nath at Bhairon Ghati. Without being at Bhairon Ghati, the pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi is considered to be incomplete.
