Henamkonda is a small city of Andhra Pradesh. It is almost merged into the city of Warrangal due to many reasons. Henamkonda is famous for mainly two temples i.e. the Temple of Goddess Kali and the Thousand Pillared Temple. The Thousand Pillared Temple is 2 km away from Henamkonda.

Henamconda is famous for its temples like Bhadrakali temple, which is situated on the hill top between two cities of Henamkonda and Warangal in Andhra Pradesh. The devotees of Goddess Bhadrakali give great regard to this temple. The most attractive feature of the temple is the square shaped stone image of Goddess Kali.

Attractions of Henamkonda:

  • Bhadra Kali Temple: The idol in the temple represents goddess in a specific posture with violent looking eyes and face at Bhadra Kali Temple. The present structure of temple is 250 year old. The exceptional features of the temple are natural rock formations and presence of lake near the temple.
  • Rock Formations of Bhadrakali Temple: The rock formations at the temple increase its spiritual charm. The actions of wind, air and rain have provided the shape of a massive Yantra to the rock. The rock Yantra is the large inverted triangle that tells about the presence of Goddess kali, the Womb Yantra and Yoni Yantra. The main triangle is referred as Kama-Kala, which is symbol of the head and womb of the goddess. The Bhadrakali temple itself is an extraordinary structure. A temple shell is built around a boulder and the image of Goddess Kali is carved out of a living rock. This figure of Goddess has eight arms and height of six foot.
  • Tripura Sundri Shrine: There is a legend related to Bhadrakali Temple that the goddess has been changed into a unique form referred as Tripura Sundri by effect of mantra. Tripura Sundari is considered as the ultimate manifestation of Prakriti, the feminine energy, which is the central energy of the universe.
  • Kundlini Shrine: There is a pretty dreadful Kundalini shrine and also a temple of Lord Shiva by the side of the main shrine. The shrine is built and painted with transparent white material.
  • Thousand Pillared Temple: This Temple was built by Rudra Deva in 1163 AD and the temple is perfect example of Kakatiya architecture and sculpture. The temple is in the shape of a star and there are three shrines in temple which are devoted to Shiva, Vishnu and Surya. The temple is constructed on the slopes of Hanumakonda Hill.
