Kaladi is located on the banks of River Periyar in Ernakulum district. The place is famous for a number of temples like those dedicated to Sri Sankara, Sarada Devi, Sri Krishna and Sri Ramakrishna. This serene and calm town is counted in one of the famous Hindu pilgrimage spots.

- The Srinegri Mutt is responsible for the maintenance of the two shrines in Kaladi, which are the most popular sites of visit in Kaladi – one dedicated to Adi Sankaracharya as Dakshinamoorthi while the other one is devoted to goddess Sharada.
- The sanctity of the place is enhanced by the temple of Shri Krishna which was the family temple of Adi Sankaracharya. Close by in the premises of Kaladi is the place known as Brindavan, where the mother of Sankaracharya was cremated.
- In the nearby vicinity of the temple, Crocodile Ghat or the bathing ghat can be visited. This was the place where Sankaracharya’s feet were held by the crocodile and he was left only when his mother said yes to him to take sanyasa.
- Not far from Srinegri Mutt, is situated 8th storied Sri Adi Sankara Keerthi Sthamba Mandapa which displays the paintings depicting the life of Sankaracharya.
