Located between the Western Ghats and the Lakshadweep islands, Kannur is one of the most important costal areas of Kerala. It is situated 312 km from Kochi. By it name, this place is known as place of Lord Krishna (Kannan means Lord Krishna and Ur means place).
This coastal town of Kerala is structured triangularly and was known as the ‘great Emporium of Spice Trade’ in the 13th century. The St. Angelo fort in Kannur is quite old and built in 1505.
