Tamil Nadu is world famous for its outstanding cultural and architectural heritage since time immemorial and has always inspired people with its dignity and awe. Thiruvannamalai is one of the best examples of the divinity and purity of the Hindu Mythology.

This village, blessed with a marvelous location along the hills, has numerous temples where the ‘darshan’ of the shrines is said to absolve the people of their sins. The word ‘thiru’ is a mark of respect and gratitude to ‘AnnaMalai’, the lord or the eldest brother of mountains. The pilgrims here come with a twinkle in their eyes to seek the Darshan of the all powerful. The birthplace of many renowned saints, Siddhars and yogis, Thiruvannamalai is a municipality in the district.

History of Thiruvannamalai
The history of Thiruvannamalai dates backs to the ancient Chola period. Cholas were excellent administrators especially Aditya I and Parantaka I (A.D. 871-955) who developed the town of Thiruvannamalai. The records and inscriptions of the temple reveal information about the rule of Kulottunga III and Rajaraja III. The place flourished under the rule of Hoysalas in the medieval times.

Panchabhoothshala- An extremely fascinating and awesome architecture portraying the five elements land, water, sky, fire and wind.The place is lit with the traditional Deepams during the karthigai deepam, festival of lights, welcoming a world full of brightness with a hope to remove darkness forever. The season is especially visited by plethora of tourists all over the world.
