Karimnagar is a populated district of Andhra Pradesh, established in the early 19th century. It has a mighty population of 30, 37,486 people with almost equal numbers of males and females. The neighboring areas of Karimnagar include Madhya Pradesh in the eastern side and Warangal District towards the South. Two popular rivers, Godavari and Maneru, grace Karimnagar with their presence.

Karimnagar, situated in the Telangana region, was ruled by Vishnukumdin, Satavahanas, Vemulavada Chalukyas and Qutubshahis in ancient times. Earlier, this district was addressed as Elgamdala. There are many educational institutes in Karimnagar such as Santosh College of Nursing, Sivani Nursing College, Trinity Educational College, Jawaharlal Nehru College, and Vivekananda Degree & PG College. Many new universities are being built there. It is also home to the prestigious Sri Raja Rajeshwari Government Degree College.

There are numerous industries providing occupation to the people of Karimnagar. Factories like Kesoram Cements, Ramagundam Fertilisers give service chances to hundreds of locals. In addition, Ramagundam Thermal Power Station and more than 230 small scale industries of grain and rice mills are major employment hubs. Handicraft Industries include Silver Filigree, Ramadugu Stone Craft and Sirsilla cottons.

Attractions of Karimnagar:
The chief tourist attractions of Karimnagar district include the Elgandal Fort that is situated on the Manair riverside, approximately 10 km from Karimnagar. This majestic Fort has great historic significance due to the fact that over many powerful dynasties ruled this gigantic fortress.
Karimnagar is also dotted in and around with many Hindu Temples such as Neelakantha Swamy Temple, Rajarajeshwara Swamy Temple, Mukteshwara Swamy Temple and Narasimha Swamy Temple. You can also enjoy wildlife at Sivaram Sanctuary.

  • By Train: You can reach Karimnagar Karimnagar Railway Station from many important cities.

  • By Air: Those tourists who prefer airways can land at Hyderabad Begumpet Airport.
